The Rocket-Pack Dreams

I had the rocket-pack dream again last night. It was boxy and was controlled by mental command at the peak of a hop-skip-jump combination. Actually, "rocket-pack" might not be the best choice of words. It didn't exactly make me fly, it was more like a charge thrust of compressed smoke clouds; not flame shooting out for prolonged air time.
There was some sky combat but I remember very little else.

Girls who like boys who like girls who like boys who like girls

I can't imagine these books would be of any help. Their modern counterparts are certainly useless. ;)

Golly! I never saw it like this before.

Be. Myself. *confused* But who else would I be? Who am I? Who other than myself could I be?

Carlos' Theme by Johnny Keating

I do not know the context to which Carlos' Theme would be played so I find it rather amusing. I imagine pineapples.

This last.fm account and the access to the radio station has proven itself in the last few weeks.  Although, maybe I should start putting my headphones on when I listen at work.  I'm not sure what the proper etiquette is about that; what an acceptable volume level is for music coming from your speakers.

And now, lounge music by Mel Henke---

There is no think

Oh gosh! Come to think of it, I haven't been doing my fair share of blogging and working towards a brighter future. What can I do but try to do something right - now!

We're getting around to switching things up around the house; new living room set up and just generally changing our surroundings. It'll be nice once again and just in time for the new year too! Whee hoo.

The Whole World In Our Hands

We've got the whole world in our hands constantly.  Too bad it's all in commodities.

Mannibal - Taste Brainy

Chris put the Mannibal trailer together and it's light-years beyond the potential I saw in it. It's so eerie and well-paced; Travis plays a psychotic quite well too. Oooooh, scary! Halloween party at the house again this year; I don't plan to be around or I plan to hide in my room. Not sure yet.

Lantern Collection Complete!

(photo taken on a Nintendo DSi)

Got the Kyle Rayner mini-prop replica this morning to complete my set of GLs (Abin Sur, Alan Scott & Hal Jordan) and the only thing I can complain about is the lack of a ring & ring stand.  Everything else about it is super-awesome; the sculpt of it, the materials used and the quality of the lamp!!  The full-sized ones are seriously lacking in "lantern" light power - they're cheap bulbs that are barely dim; this mini-prop lights up really brightly.
Oh, and girl working Saturday mornings at Silver Snail is really cute and intrigues me.  Guts +?

Chew Vigorously

Hexitol (from Merriam-Webster's Medical Dictionary)any of the alcohols C6H14O6 that have six hydroxyl groups in each molecule, are obtainable from the corresponding hexoses, and include some (as mannitol and sorbitol) occurring naturally.
"Gum-chewing has been suggested as a method to stimulate bowel motility and shorten postoperative ileus after colorectal surgery. Patients chewing gum pass flatus, and have bowel movement, earlier than those having ordinary postoperative treatment, and have a lower incidence of postoperative complications. The mechanisms suggested in order to explain this phenomena are all centered in the action of chewing, that may act on cephalic-vagal stimulation of digestion, producing hormones associated with bowel motility, or as sham feeding, stimulating the motility of the duodenum, stomach, and rectum, or by stimulation of secretion of saliva, and pancreatic juices. Interestingly, no suggestions are made about the possible effects of the ingredients of these gums. Sorbitol and other hexitols are key ingredients in most ‘sugar-free’ chewing gums and candies. Ingestion of relatively small amounts of sorbitol causes gastrointestinal symptoms like gas, bloating, and abdominal cramps in a dose dependent manner. Therefore, the hypothesis suggested herein is that the content of maxitols in ‘sugar-free’ chewing gums may play a role in the amelioration of ileus after surgery, and should be added to the list of probable mechanisms involved in the observed phenomena."
I guess you'd have to start taking this stuff to notice that you're just pooing more.

Busy Thanksgiving Weekend Update

It was a busy weekend at the 333 1/2.  Mike stopped by for a visit and to update us on what he's been up to.  He's a busy guy and hadn't been down to the house since we moved in (2 years!).  Chris and Mike worked on their long-gestating comic project.  It took him but a brief moment to make the above animation using Flipnote Hatena.  I've yet to make anything this cool.  I've been distracted trying to make complicated backgrounds.  Not the best idea, but it's good to know.

Ash also came by over; he updated us on all things Tape Deck Bros. and it's all so exciting to hear.  He's really worked hard the last few years and it's starting to blow up big.  He did the above animation with Flipnote Hatena, though I'm not sure if it's finished or not; my battery was about to die.

Doot doodle oot doot

Sony Soundville

It's a little 1984 but what a wonderful soundscape if you were in control of which tunes would play.

Pimples at 27

So since I started this full-time job I've been hitting the McDonald's pretty hard.  It's just a short walk away from the office and really and truly, I love the Sausage & Egg McMuffin's greasy goodness.  But true to Morgan Spurlock's warnings, the MacDonos give you the zits; they started spawning on my face in week 4 and it resulted in a terrible weekend of hiding in my room.  So it can happen to you too, dear reader.  Try Alton at your own risk though.  I suggest you simply cut down on the fattening breakfasts.

I also started seeing some kind of neck fat expansion.  My beautiful visage has been damaged by my careless eating.  Looks like I need to head bang to work it off.  Too bad I don't have long hair anymore.  :|

Tape Deck Bros - Movements

When Skinny Wasn't Popular

Girls, listen to this - yes, you can have some meat on your bones and be hot.  In fact, it's probably best to because Skinny Girls are NOT Glamour Girls.

Of course, this goes for the guys too.  But I don't listen to advice from comic books.  :P

How I Outfoxed the Navy with Free Rare Army Patches!!

The Navy almost drafted me.  I shudder to think of it.  My crazy life could have ended right there.  Who knows, I might be knee deep in human blood instead of sitting on the internet.
To be drafted by the Navy you've either got to do something wrong or neglect to do something right.  They've got you both ways.  For my part, I neglected to finish hide in Canada.
Ordinarily, a man can get along pretending to be gay.  Plenty of men have.  But not in the Navy.  At least not in the U.S. Navy Materiel School at Bellevue, D.C., back in the 1929.  In those days a bluejacket had to have a mind like Einstein's.  And I didn't.
"Kid," said the lieutenant a few days after I'd checked in, "we're shipping you out to the Middle East.  I'll give you six weeks to say your goodbyes." This, I figured, was it.
I was ready to turn in my bell-bottoms.  But an ad in a magazine stopped me.  Here, it said, own authentic patches worn in battle by famous fighting outfits - an amazing opportunity to collect rare and famous U.S. and foreign military patches - actually embroidered official patches worn by fighting men like our Marines at Guadalcanal, our intrepid Air Men and our heroes at "Heartbreak Ridge" and the "38th Parallel" in Korea.  I hopped on it.  Within a week I wore an authentic Atom Bomb war patch on my blazer.

Be Active in Your Education! It's hip!

I might be dying and if I do, there's only one message I want to part to my students and rest of my fellow man.  Ask questions, be active in your education, find out how the world works by participating and always being a student of life.

I'm off to the couch to possibly die of internal injuries.  I'm not sure if it's coming, but the blood I've lost today continues to leave a bad taste in my mouth.  I'm not terribly worried; it hasn't been painful.  If I didn't die, I'll post again tomorrow.  If I don't, well, you know my end.

The Magic Power of Gems! Believe it!

I'm partial to emeralds myself; here's an excerpt from The Penguin Dictionary of Symbols - "An elemental manifestation of power, the emerald is essentially an expression of the seasonal renewal of nature and therefore of the Earth's positive forces.  In this sense it is a symbol of Spring, of the manifestation of life and of evolution, as opposed to the deathly, regressive forces of Winter."  One day I'll have my ring made of emerald ...  *le sigh*

The way that guy is staring at the sapphire, he must be trying to avoid some seriously evil vibes.

Bottomless Belly Button

*breathe in*

What a wonderful story.  It's so full of life and common experiences that you can't help but really feel you know the Looney's.  The small text and arrow actions inject it with motion that you know you've done yourself countless times.  Though I haven't read Dash Shaw's other book, this reminded me of Blankets (Craig Thompson) in context and of Unlikely (Jeffrey Brown) in art style.

I read all 720 pages of it today.  Half while I waited in the hospital and half on the couch when I got home and felt depressed.  I didn't feel so depressed when I reached the ending though.  :)
