'The September Issue'

This'll be an interesting documentary to see.
$300 billion dollars.

I must complain

Shee man!  While I wrote that last blog entry I missed Jay-Z's performance on the BET awards.  Apparently the highlight of the night too.  Fak.

Famous For Being Crazy

Reality TV.  Here's one I'm surprised no one has done yet - taking a "crazy homeless person" off the street and trying to give them something they want.  So if he wants to go for a ride on a submarine, arranging such things and taping it.  It's something I thought the scum of television would have produced by now.

In a similar thought - creating a whacked out movie set and waking people up to such a world filled with actors.  Reality TV meets The Truman Show.

XBL Deuce vs. Tong Li - 06/27/09

Throughout the week I've been getting some practice in for today's big game against the Cosmic Kingdom (Bambino King & Cosmic Queen) -- then it rained. So at the very least I can update my blog with a clip from yesterday's thrashing of Deuce. 10-4 victory to me!

The Room Before and After, Part 1: James Franco

Adam tried to get me to sneak into the abandoned hardware store on Coxwell so we could trash it and film it. Logistics made it impossible. But I suppose we could've come away with footage like this... Missed opportunity for mass destruction. Shucks.

The Fastest Man Alive

Superspeed is a mind-fuck because there are so many ways to interpret the ability to traverse distance and time. Is it the slowdown of your surroundings or the acceleration of one's self?  What impact does that have on everything else that isn't expecting a time warp?

I don't remember the details of the series, but Joe Quesada & Josh Middleton's NYX had a really cool character named Kiden that manipulated time like I'd imagine superspeed would work.  I think her power had something to do with stopping time altogether or stepping into a zone...?

Okay.  Just checked wikipedia and it says "Time Manipulation (Ability to enter a faster, personal, timestream she calls "No-Time")".  I guess that's sorta like what I'm doing with the Runner except mine'll function more like bullet-time.

Some Wu Tang Clan Shit Up In Here!

Cyber kung-fu.  Prostitutes.  Cyber prostitutes.  Karate.
That's the idea.
Be aware.

Kyle & Dennis Animation Experiment

When I worked at Kinko's I was the resident photocopier geek. That's where I realized that I could create animations via the Docucolor 250's automatic feeder!
K-Ho and I worked on this bit of cartoon funny by trading off sets of 10 pages and going wherever we felt like going.
I think it turned out quite well. I think I'll do more of this soon. I need a subject...

XBL Promos

We're in the midst of cutting promos for XBL Season 3. It's funny how we almost always incorporate some kind of pro wrestling style video into every project we do. Them wrestlers used to do it right. Yell a lot, point a lot and finish off with a threat.
This Adrock video is still probably the crowning achievement of EYWF promos. I think the time spent on getting the camera angles and multiple takes makes the whole bit.

Stories

It'll be exciting just to see fantasy creations come to life again.  I've mentioned before that in high school, I'd intended to pursue film making as a career but didn't.  One of the reasons why it interested me so much was because I'd see things unfold before my eyes.  The biggest reason I see comic books as the medium I truly want to master is because the imagination of a reader plays such a big part and that between the panels I write will be the stuff of magic formed from their minds.
That's also why there are no barriers in the types of stories we're working on.
Man, do we have a old newspaper-style adventure to unleash upon the world...

Web of Comics

There's the big book and to compliment it some shorter tales that I'm starting to pass by some friends.  I'm trying to get a big web component going because I think content online is so important right now.
(The Runner, Doctor Density and the Marksman from our book Crusaders)
(art by the spectacular Sharp Brothers)

Paper is too though.  I'm excited by DC's Wednesday Comics move.  It's an interesting bet and they're putting a lot of effort into it.  The creative teams are fantastic and what I've seen so far has been top-notch.  I want to see the paper unfold

Title to get things started

XBL Showdown Covers

Tomo has been doing a series of magazine covers for the bocce league.  I don't know why they aren't posted anywhere except the Facebook page.  They've turned out great - Uncle Bocci, Egyptian, The Great Escape, Silvercane and never-before-seen Murderball - I'm going to try and get those posted here or hopefully the housemates will finally update their blogs?

Comics Business

It had become a task getting myself enthused about the much delayed series pitch that Chris and I were working on.  Strange, because we had worked vigorously for so many months and accumulated quite a few pages of artwork.  Then everything stopped happening and we never got back to it.
There were too many ideas, not enough resources to produce the work plus all the other projects 333half has on the go all the time.
I'll admit there was a funk felt as time passed and it became like a pipe dream to get comics going again.  No more.  There's much to be done.  Now.
Welcome back, Comics.

Mean Mugging

Not that the intentions are anything beyond getting myself in a healthy state again, but I've bought a blender and will finally begin to consume fruit again.  Yeah, I hadn't been.  Yeah, it was getting to me in the form of pain.  Took me long enough.
Strange to think that a lot of people, myself included, don't take good care of themselves.

MakerBot

Makerbot is insanely radical and most awesome. I can't believe they've made a home fabrication machine (robot)! Now making toys from home is possible; can anyone say custom Super Powers toys?

Art Style Series: Hacolife trailer (DSiWare)

I want this so bad! It's like package design meets Tetris. Separate a square lined sheet so the parts fold into boxes!
Great game design. I miss puzzle games; they ain't what they used to be - they're better!

New Super Mario Bros Wii - E3 2009 Trailer - HQ

Doesn't this look super neato? A new side-scrolling adventure with the plumbers and their gang but it's four-players AT THE SAME TIME!
The penguin ice shooting suit and the propeller suit that makes you twist and fly are cool new variations on old concepts. I thought the DS New Mario Bros. was good, but not enough, this one though will be a welcome addition to the play-for-ten-minutes rotation we seem to have going at the house. It's out this year too! Yay!

Animation Thing

Car Ride Test from Dennis Lee on Vimeo.

I was hiding in my room bored out of my skull so I made this.  I'll just do some more tests and maybe incorporate this into something.
